LOCATION

225 Main Road,

Claremont

DEPARTMENT

Beverage Bar

REPORTS TO

Store Manager

SCHEDULE

Rotating shifts incl.

weekends & public

holidays

The role

Our guests come for dessert, but they judge us on the coffee too. As Barista you run the espresso station:

every flat white, cappuccino and iced coffee pulled to recipe, textured to standard and presented

beautifully, at speed, all day. You keep the station calibrated, spotless and stocked, and you bring the

same warmth to the counter that guests get at the table.

Key responsibilities

Coffee craft

  • Prepare all espresso-based and iced coffee drinks

exactly to our recipes.

  • Steam and texture milk, including plant-based

alternatives, to standard.

  • Finish every drink with consistent presentation and

latte art.

Quality & calibration

  • Dial in the grinder at opening and adjust through

the day.

  • Taste-check shots regularly and correct drift

before guests notice.

  • Keep drink times tight during peak periods.

Machine & station care

  • Clean and backflush the machine, grinder and

steam wands to schedule.

  • Report equipment faults immediately.
  • Keep the station stocked, organised and ready for

service.

Stock & hygiene

  • Monitor beans, milk, syrups and cups and flag low

stock early.

  • Label, date and rotate stock (first in, first out).
  • Apply food safety, hygiene and allergen controls

at all times.

Guest service

  • Take counter and takeaway orders accurately

and process payments.

  • Recommend drinks and pairings with our

desserts.

  • Deliver the warm, friendly service Sweet Revenge

is known for.

Teamwork

  • Support the bubble tea bar and floor team during

peaks.

  • Assist with opening and closing duties.
  • Help train new team members on the coffee

station.

What you bring

Essential

  • A genuine passion for coffee and pride in

consistency.

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow

drink recipes precisely.

  • Able to work fast and stay calm during peak

periods.

  • Excellent communication and customer service

skills.

  • Reliable, well-presented and punctual.
  • Full availability for weekends, evenings and public

holidays.

  • Eligible to work in South Africa.

Advantageous

  • Previous barista experience, ideally in a

specialty or high-volume café.

  • Latte art skills.
  • A barista course or certification.
  • Bubble tea or milkshake experience.

Working hours & transport · please read carefully

  • Shifts of 10–12 hours on a rotating roster, with 2 days off per week.
  • Staff transport service available to team members living within 20 km of the store.
  • Availability on weekends, evenings and public holidays is non-negotiable. These are

our busiest trading periods.

Training provided

If you already make great coffee, we’ll teach you to make ours. If you’re earlier in your journey but serious

about the craft, we’ll build your skills from the ground up.

  • Coffee training on our espresso recipes, dialling in, milk texturing and latte art.
  • Structured onboarding covering our brand story, menu, service standards and house rules.
  • Food safety, hygiene and allergen training before you work independently.
  • Point-of-sale (POS), payments and cash-handling training.
  • Ongoing coaching and feedback from the store leadership team.
  • Room to grow as the group expands, with cross-skilling across roles and stores for strong performers.
