About the Role:

Sweeties Beerhall at Long Street Backpackers is on the hunt for an energetic, guest-focused Bartender to join our team. You'll be the face behind the bar — pouring drinks, keeping the energy up, and making sure every patron walks away with a great story to tell. What You'll Be Doing

Guest Service & Atmosphere

• Deliver outstanding service that creates unforgettable experiences for patrons
• Keep the bar lively — initiate games and activities to maintain a great atmosphere
• Stay active and engaged with guests throughout your shift

Bar Operations & Beverage Preparation

• Set up all drink inputs and preparation items before service begins
• Harvest and stock ice during quiet periods
• Secure all kegs in the storage room at the end of each shift

Stock Control

• Complete accurate opening and closing stocktakes every shift
• Fully stock fridges at the end of each shift, ready for the next

Cleanliness & Maintenance

• Keep taps, fridges, counters, glassware, and all bar surfaces clean
• Clear rubbish and maintain a tidy bar area
• Hand over any maintenance or stock needs at the end of shift

Security & Compliance

• Ensure patrons stay within the bar area and don't access restricted spaces
• Enforce the no-outside-alcohol policy
• Handle cash/card payments only, and close the bar on time within regulated hours

What We're Looking For

• Previous bartending or hospitality experience preferred
• High energy, enthusiasm, and a genuine patron-first attitude
• Reliable, professional, and presentable — company uniform worn at all times
• Comfortable working shifts including weekends and public holidays
• Proactive self-starter who stays engaged even during quieter periods
• Respectful, team-oriented approach with management, colleagues, and guests

Good to Know

• Shift swaps require prior approval from the Bar Manager
• No alcohol consumption on or off shift at the premises
• Company equipment and consumables are for business use only

Ability to commute/relocate:

• Cape Town, Western Cape: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Preferred)
