Bi Developer

Description

We are looking for a Bi Developer to join our Sumer Offshore Services team, part of the Sumer Group, working in a hybrid model based at the 123 Consulting office in Johannesburg. You will play a key role in developing and delivering the data, reporting and digital tools that support commercial growth across the Group.

Working at the intersection of data, technology and commercial operations, you will turn complex data into clear, actionable insights that helps our teams identify opportunities, strengthen client relationships and make better business decisions.

You will take ownership of building and managing commercial data, reporting, dashboards and applications, principally across the Microsoft data and analytics ecosystem. Working closely with colleagues across business development, finance, marketing, operations and IT, you will translate business requirements into practical solutions that deliver measurable value.

This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys combining technical expertise with commercial thinking - not simply producing reports but developing tools and insights that actively support business development, client growth and performance across the Group.### Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain dashboards, tools, and reports using Power BI, the wider MS Power Platform, Data Warehousing, MS Excel and other resources as required
• Deliver clear, visually compelling insights tailored to different stakeholders, with measurable commercial effect.
• Maintain data integrity, consistency, and governance across datasets, reports, and tools.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across IT, finance, BD, marketing, and operations, as well as client-facing staff across service lines.
• Translate business opportunities into results in accordance with ongoing practices and policies.
• Track outcomes from commercial tools and reports, while providing feedback and support to users.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

Essential* Excellent Power BI dashboard and report designing skills

• Ability to produce effective Semantic Models, write in DAX, and for Power Query
• Experience producing tools / applications using wider MS Power Platform in conjunction with MS Fabric and Data Warehousing.
• Strong technical database knowledge, SQL querying skills, and understanding of MS Data Warehousing concepts
• Sound foundational knowledge of programmatic logic / scripting principles, and technology platform adaptability
• Proficient data analytics skills in MS Excel
• Ability to clean and consolidate data from multiple sources
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex data clearly
• Strong grasp of key business and financial metrics (e.g. revenue, margin, client lifetime value)
• Experience working in app development teams in accordance with internal data and systems policies
• Highly organised and results-focused, with strong Project Management capability

Desirable* Bachelor-level education in Data Science/Analytics, Computer Science, or related STEM field

• Programming and Scripting skills in one or more of Python, Java Script, R, HTML/CSS
• Experience in professional services (accountancy, legal, consulting)
• Exposure to data governance and data quality frameworks
• Experience working in an offshore or remote support model
