We are looking for a Biz Dev Ops Engineer to join our dynamic team in Johannesburg (Hybrid).

You will play a critical role in ensuring the integrity and reliability of banking software systems. You’ll work within Agile teams to design, develop, and execute automated test frameworks that validate the functionality, performance, and security of digital banking solutions. Responsibilities:

  • Design, build and maintain highly available, scalable, secure and resilient cloud-native platforms supporting mission-critical applications.
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, Bicep, ARM Templates and Ansible.
  • Design, implement and optimize CI/CD pipelines for application and infrastructure deployments using Azure DevOps, GitHub Enterprise, Jenkins and related tooling.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, testing, security scanning, deployments and rollback processes.
  • Drive DevOps and SRE practices across engineering and delivery teams, promoting automation, standardization and operational excellence.
  • Establish and manage reliability practices, including SLIs, SLOs and SLAs, to improve platform availability and performance.
  • Lead incident response, problem management and root cause analysis for production environments, driving sustainable corrective actions.
  • Design and manage Azure cloud infrastructure, including AKS, App Services, networking, storage, identity and monitoring services.
  • Implement high-availability, disaster recovery, scalability and resilience strategies for enterprise platforms.
  • Develop enterprise monitoring and observability capabilities covering logging, metrics, tracing, alerting and operational dashboards.
  • Use observability platforms to reduce Mean Time to Detect (MTTD) and Mean Time to Recover (MTTR), while enabling proactive issue identification.
  • Integrate DevSecOps practices into the software delivery lifecycle, including security controls, vulnerability scanning and compliance requirements.
  • Monitor and optimize platform performance, capacity, availability and cloud expenditure.
  • Contribute to architecture decisions, technology roadmaps and platform engineering standards.
  • Provide technical leadership, coaching and mentoring to DevOps, cloud, platform and reliability engineering teams.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives that improve engineering productivity, deployment velocity, system reliability and customer experience.
  • Drive continuous improvement through automation, technical debt reduction, performance optimization and operational standardization.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline is often preferred

Experience:

  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering, infrastructure, cloud, DevOps or platform engineering.
  • 5+ years of hands-on DevOps engineering experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) or production operations environments.
  • Proven experience managing mission-critical production systems and large-scale enterprise platforms.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, particularly Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure App Services, Azure Networking, Azure Monitor, Azure Storage and Azure Identity Services.
  • Practical experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub Enterprise, Git, Jenkins, SonarQube, Artifactory and/or Nexus.
  • Strong experience developing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Bicep, ARM Templates and/or Ansible.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes and Helm; OpenShift exposure will be advantageous.
  • Experience implementing observability solutions using technologies such as Dynatrace, Grafana, Prometheus, Elastic Stack, Splunk, Azure Monitor and/or OpenTelemetry.
  • Strong scripting or programming experience with Python, PowerShell, Bash, C# and/or Java; Go experience will be advantageous.
  • Demonstrable experience improving platform availability, deployment success rates, change failure rates, MTTD, MTTR and automation coverage.
  • Experience implementing high-availability, disaster recovery, security and compliance controls in enterprise environments.
  • Experience leading incident response, root cause analysis and proactive reliability improvement initiatives.
  • Exposure to AWS or Google Cloud will be advantageous.
