Blockman Job Description
Responsible for preparing, cutting, and packaging meat products while ensuring high standards of hygiene, safety, and customer service in a fast-paced retail environment
- Meat Preparation: Cutting, deboning, and trimming beef, lamb, pork, and poultry carcasses into retail cuts (steaks, roasts, chops) according to specifications.
- Manufacturing: Producing minced meat, sausages, and boerewors.
- Equipment Operation: Safely operating butchery equipment including band saws, mincing machines, wrapping machines, and vacuum packers.
- Hygiene & Safety: Maintaining strict cleanliness of the butchery area, tools, and equipment, adhering to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) acts, and monitoring cold chain temperatures.
- Merchandising & Stock Control: Merchandising products in displays, managing inventory levels, rotating stock to minimize wastage and shrinkage, and assisting with receiving supplier deliveries.
- Customer Service: Providing friendly service at the counter, handling customer queries, and providing product information.
Pay: R150,00 - R250,00 per day
