Blockman

We are currently recruiting for a Blockman to join our team in Ashburton

The Purpose of the role is to prepare, cuts, and portion meat products our butchery .

The Key Areas of responsibility of this role is to:

• Meat Preparation: Break down carcasses, debone, trim, and cut beef, lamb, pork, and poultry into standard portions or custom orders.
• Equipment Operation: Use and clean saws, mincers, slicers,biltong slicer, and sharp knives safely.
• Stock & Hygiene Control: Monitor cold chain temperatures, minimize waste, prevent shrinkage, and clean work areas to meet health regulations.
• Customer Service: Help our customers with special requests and advise on cuts or cooking methods

Job Requirements

• Education: Grade 12 (Matric).
• Certification: Recognized Meat Cutting Certificate (such as a Grade 2) or formal butchery learnership/apprenticeship would be advantageous
• Experience: 2 to 5 years working in a commercial or retail butchery environment.
• Physical Fitness: Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy carcasses, and work in a refrigerated room
