Boiler Operator

Responsible for operating the boiler effectively and safely to optimise steam production.

REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION/TRAINING

• Grade 10 & Boiler certificate

REQUIRED MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE

• Minimum of 3 years experience
• 1 year experience in animal feed manufacturing environment will be an advantage

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

• Effective and SAFE operating of the boiler as per steps in Boiler operating manual, checklists, SOPs
• Complete pre-shift inspection on boiler
• Complete pressure readings on log sheets
• Conduct quality control water test
• Comply with all requirements for Occupational Health and Safety
• Ensure that the work area and equipment are clean at all times

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE/ COMPETENCIES

• Sound operating knowledge of boilers
• Mechanical knowledge
• Health and Safety relations
• Boiler operating skills - completion of log sheets according to law

BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES

• Self-motivated and reliable
• Able to handle and work under pressure
• Able to work shifts, overtime and Public Holidays as per operational requirements of the site
