Job description
Key Tasks
- Observes and interpret readings on gauges and meters to ensure boiler runs smoothly.
- Fire coal furnaces by hand with stockers.
- Operate mechanical hoppers to feed coal to boiler.
- Monitor boiler water, chemical and fuel levels and make adjustments to maintain required levels.
- Clean and lubricate boiler and auxiliary equipment and make minor adjustments when required.
- Maintain daily logs of operation.
- Adjust controls and valves on equipment to provide power, and to regulate and set operations of systems.
- Analyse problems and take appropriate action to ensure continuous and reliable operation of boiler.
- Report any non-conformances to the production supervisor.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Manufacturing process and procedure
- Basic health and safety requirements
- Sound knowledge of high speed tissue machines.
- Must be literate in English and numerate to a grade 12 level.
- Organizational skills.
- Problem solving skills.
- Sound product knowledge.
- Must be able to work under extreme pressure.
- Maintaining a high level of timekeeping is of the essence
Pay: R11 500,00 per month
