Bookkeeper & Office Administrator
Location: Oribi Flats, KwaZulu-Natal (35 km from Port Shepstone)
Salary: Negotiable based on experience
Oribi Oils is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper & Office Administrator to join our team. This is a varied role supporting both our business operations and agricultural activities. We are looking for someone who enjoys being organised, takes pride in accuracy, and is comfortable managing a broad range of administrative responsibilities.
This position is based in a rural farming environment, so applicants should be comfortable working in this setting and travelling to our office in Oribi Flats.
Minimum Requirements
- At least 5 years' bookkeeping experience
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including working confidently with large spreadsheets and data capturing
- Own reliable transport
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Honest, dependable and able to maintain confidentiality
- Able to work independently while contributing positively to a small team
Advantageous:
- Experience with Sage Accounting (or similar accounting software)
- Basic understanding of isiZulu
- Previous experience in an agricultural, manufacturing or small business environment
Key Responsibilities
- Bookkeeping and financial record-keeping
- Accounts receivable and accounts payable administration
- Data capturing and spreadsheet management
- Filing and document control (electronic and paper)
- Sales administration and customer support
- General office administration
- Assisting with agricultural and farm administration
- Stock, purchasing and procurement administration
- Payroll and HR administrative support
- Maintaining accurate records across multiple areas of the business
- Preparing reports and providing administrative support to management
- Assisting with a variety of day-to-day business tasks as required

You are calm under pressure, highly organised and self-motivated. You enjoy variety in your work and are able to manage multiple responsibilities while maintaining a high standard of accuracy. You are diligent, honest and reliable, take ownership of your work, and are proactive in solving problems. You communicate professionally, work well with others, and are willing to learn new skills and assist wherever needed.
Working Hours
- Monday to Friday
- 7 working hours per day
- 1-hour lunch break
Accommodation
A one-bedroom wooden cabin is available to rent at a nominal rate on a neighbouring farm should the successful applicant require accommodation. Please note that the cabin is in a remote location and access requires a high-clearance vehicle.
