Bookkeeper
Location: Hybrid (60% Work from Home) | Durban, KwaZulu-Natal
Employment Type: Permanent (3-month probation)
Salary : R 15 000 to R 20 000 TCTC
Working Hours:
Monday to Friday | 07:30 – 16:00
Overtime may be required in line with operational requirements.

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our Finance Team.
Reporting to the Accountant, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records across multiple companies within the Group, ensuring sound financial control, statutory compliance, and timely financial reporting.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment, takes ownership of their work, and is committed to delivering exceptional accuracy.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- BCom Accounting (preferred), or
- Financial Diploma
- Matric with Core/Higher Grade Mathematics
Experience
- Minimum 3 years' bookkeeping/accounting experience
- Experience working within a multi-company finance environment (4 or more entities)
- Auditing or legal firm experience will be advantageous
- Advanced knowledge of Pastel Partner
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Sound understanding of accounting principles, legislation, and financial reporting standards
Key Responsibilities
Bookkeeping & Financial Control
- Process accounting records up to Trial Balance in Pastel Partner
- Process debtors, creditors and bank transactions
- Perform bank reconciliations
- Process journals including:
- Depreciation
- Payroll
- Finance charges
- Prepayments
- Income and expense accruals
Debtors & Creditors
- Manage debtor and creditor accounts
- Email invoices and customer statements
- Prepare debtor reconciliations
- Follow up on outstanding payments and customer queries
- Ensure supplier invoices are properly authorised
- Prepare creditor reconciliations
- Load supplier payments via online banking platforms
- Resolve outstanding supplier queries
General Ledger & Month-End
- Prepare monthly General Ledger reconciliations
- Reconcile Balance Sheet and Income Statement accounts
- Reconcile intercompany transactions and balances
- Maintain accurate supporting documentation
Statutory Compliance
- Prepare and submit:
- VAT201 returns
- EMP201 returns
- COIDA returns
Additional Responsibilities
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting
- Assist with financial investigations and calculations
- Support year-end audit processes
- Provide backup support for finance team members
- Assist in other areas of the business when operationally required
