Boutique Fashion Retail Sales Associate – Stellenbosch

The Lamu Collection is hiring an experienced Boutique Fashion Retail Sales Associate to join our Stellenbosch team.

We are a fashion and lifestyle brand inspired by Lamu Island, Kenya, offering distinctive clothing, accessories and lifestyle products. We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys fashion, personal selling and creating memorable customer experiences.

This is an hourly-paid retail position based at our Stellenbosch store.

Who we are looking for

We are specifically looking for candidates with experience in boutique, fashion, clothing or premium lifestyle retail.

The successful candidate should have:

• A minimum of 1 year of relevant boutique, fashion or clothing retail sales experience
• Experience selling clothing, fashion, accessories or lifestyle products
• Strong personal selling skills and the confidence to approach and engage customers
• The ability to understand a customer's needs and recommend suitable products, styles and combinations
• A genuine interest in fashion, styling and beautiful products
• Strong customer service and relationship-building skills
• Experience working towards sales targets and retail KPIs
• A professional, well-presented and positive approach
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Reliability, punctuality and a strong work ethic
• The ability to work independently as well as part of a small team
• Flexibility to work retail hours, including weekends and peak trading periods

Please note: We are specifically recruiting for boutique/fashion/clothing retail experience. General retail experience that does not involve fashion, clothing, accessories or a similar customer-focused retail environment may not meet the requirements of this position.

IMPORTANT: December availability

Applicants must be available to work throughout the December 2026 holiday period.

December is an important trading period for our Stellenbosch store, and availability during this period is an essential requirement of the role.

If you are a student or temporary Stellenbosch resident who will be leaving Stellenbosch during the December holidays, please do not apply for this position.

About the role

As a Retail Sales Associate, you will be responsible for delivering the level of personal service our customers expect from The Lamu Collection.

Your responsibilities will include assisting and styling customers, actively selling across our product categories, developing strong product knowledge, working towards individual and store sales targets, maintaining high visual merchandising standards, processing sales accurately, assisting with stock and replenishment, and helping ensure that every customer receives a warm and memorable Lamu experience.
