Green Choice Consulting is an Australian energy efficiency consultancy. We help builders and developers across Australia meet the energy requirements of the National Construction Code, on residential and commercial projects in every state.

The role

You will model new Australian homes in energy rating software, produce energy reports, and find practical, cost-effective ways for each design to comply. Training in the Australian software and rules is provided.

Hours and arrangement

• Independent contractor engagement, fully remote
• 35 paid hours per week (7 hours per weekday), with extra hours available as required
• Monday to Friday, between 1:00 am and 9:00 am South African time (7:00 am – 3:00 pm Perth time). Please apply only if you can work these hours consistently.
• Paid weekly into your South African bank account

What you'll do

• Model residential buildings in NatHERS software (HERO)
• Produce energy reports from the software results and project documents
• Recommend cost-effective compliance solutions
• Prepare BASIX certificates by entering project data into the NSW government web portal

Essential

• Strong attention to detail, including careful reading of plans and specifications
• Confident computer skills across several programs
• Able to meet deadlines when work is busy
• Clear written and spoken English
• Able to explain compliance solutions accurately

Advantageous

• Experience with SANS 10400-XA energy calculations or rational designs, or simulation software such as DesignBuilder
• Architectural draughting experience (e.g. AutoCAD, Revit or ArchiCAD)
• A building, construction, architecture or engineering background
• Familiarity with NatHERS, BASIX or the NCC energy provisions
• A high-performance PC and dual monitors
• Reliable internet and backup power (UPS or inverter), so power cuts don't interrupt your work
