Job Advert Summary

Perform a full range of varied and responsible engineering work and techniques under supervision and independently. To protect Rand Water’s existing servitudes, pipelines and ancillary structures from potential damage and to accommodate the needs of outside authorities and organisations in accordance with Rand Water’s policies, standards and specifications. The work will be undertaken in the SAM division to contribute to optimal asset performance, optimal integrated engineering designs, exceptional customer services and engineering management of Rand Water’s servitudes.

Minimum Requirements

  • Higher Certificate in Construction Engineering or National Diploma Civil Engineering/Construction Management or equivalent
  • Minimum Experience: 5 year post experience in Civil Engineering (Construction/Pipelines), Wayleave, Servitudes, Encroachment experience.

Primary Duties

  • Monitor, update and maintain wayleave applications, approvals and wayleave spreadsheets daily, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Train and register applicants on the online wayleave system.
  • Monitor and manage the online wayleave system.
  • Compile wayleave packs for external stakeholders upon receipt of requests, in line with current external stakeholder processes and procedures.
  • Submit valid wayleave approvals daily to Project Managers, Land Surveyors and responsible parties, ensuring requirements, conditions and expiry dates are communicated.
  • Compile, update and maintain wayleave reports and spreadsheets.
  • Take minutes and compile reports for site inspections, meetings and project meetings.
  • Submit Steercom reports and other required reports weekly.
  • Submit required reports and spreadsheets bi-weekly.
  • Attend site meetings, project meetings, inspections, kick-off meetings and close-out meetings in line with wayleave application requirements.
  • Keep abreast of new information, systems and technology relevant to wayleave management and pipeline protection.
  • Assist Senior Engineers with aspects of larger, more complex and multidisciplinary projects.
  • Take responsibility for data capturing, collating condition assessment reports and interfacing with various internal stakeholders.
  • Work within Rand Water engineering guidelines, with an understanding of the company’s overall goals, while applying the underlying intent of standards to suit specific operational requirements.
  • Liaise with various stakeholders to manage data, information and wayleave applications relating to Rand Water servitudes.
  • Liaise with specialists, including quality assurance specialists, financial specialists, condition assessment service providers and socio-geographic specialists, to ensure an optimal end product
