Business Analyst

The Business Analyst supports the Commercial Manager by producing accurate, profitable, and competitive customer quotes and delivering insightful KPI and performance reports. The role plays a key part in revenue growth, revenue protection, customer retention, and operational decision-making through data analysis and commercial insight.

Quoting and Pricing (Revenue growth)

Receive and interpret pricing requests, scope of work, and data from Sales Representative.

• Compile an accurate, profitable and competitive quote to the customer to deliver the freight:
• Clean, validate and structure data into the correct format for analysis.
• Apply approved analytical tools and costing models to determine accurate pricing.
• Calculate competitive and profitable rates aligned to business objectives.
• Prepare and submit quotes for management approval.
• Brief Sales Administration to compile and issue quotes and support freight audits.
• Conduct handover sessions with Sales Representatives to explain the audit, assumptions, and pricing methodology.

Profitability studies: (Revenue protection)

• Conduct customer-specific profitability and margin analysis to support rate reviews and commercial decisions.
• Extract, analyse, and apply standard costing models to operational data.
• Incorporate customer-specific operational requirements into costing methodologies.
• Present profitability insights and recommendations to management.

KPI and Performance Reporting: (Customer Retention)

• Produce customer KPI and operational performance reports.
• Analyse monthly performance against agreed SOPs and service levels.
• Identify variances, investigate root causes with Operations, and propose corrective actions.
• Prepare KPI reports for presentation to Sales Representatives / CRMs for customer engagement.

Operational Reporting and Continuous Improvement:

• Develop and maintain operational reports (e.g. daily volume analysis) to support operational and strategic discussions.
• Translate business requirements into meaningful reports through effective system and data utilisation.
• Interpret and explain insights, trends, and performance indicators to management.

Invoicing Rate Alignment:

• Align invoicing rates for delivery areas not previously quoted.
• Apply existing quotes and approved costing models to determine appropriate rates.
• Provide aligned rates for implementation and invoicing accuracy.

Ad-hoc Analysis:

• Produce ad-hoc analytical and management reports as required by the business.

Minimum Requirements:

• BCom Degree in Business, Finance, Logistics, or a related field
• 2 years’ + experience in a similar analytical role within a courier or logistics environment
• Intermediate analytical ability and capability to clean, validate and interpret data (costing and pricing models, profitability analysis and operational performance).
