Position Overview: The Business Development Associate will be responsible for driving new business opportunities through targeted prospecting, market research, outbound engagement, and the execution of go-to-market (GTM) initiatives.
Working closely with the Head of Business Development, the successful candidate will play a key role in expanding Updraft's market presence, generating qualified pipeline, supporting product launches, and contributing to the company's commercial growth strategy.

Key Responsibilities:
New Business Development
- Research and identify prospective clients within target industries.
- Build, maintain, and prioritise target account lists.
- Identify and engage key decision-makers through email, LinkedIn, telephone, and other channels.
- Execute targeted outbound business development campaigns.
- Conduct initial qualification and discovery conversations to assess prospect requirements and commercial fit.
- Plan, coordinate, and deliver product demonstrations for sales opportunities.
- Generate and nurture a pipeline of qualified sales opportunities through to proposal.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and industry developments to identify new business opportunities.
- Collaborate with the Head of Business Development on sales strategies, go-to-market initiatives, and market expansion opportunities.
- Maintain accurate records of all prospect interactions and sales activities within the CRM.
Go-to-Market (GTM) Execution
- Assist with the execution of go-to-market strategies for new products, features, and services.
- Coordinate webinars, events, and lead generation initiatives.
- Support the development of case studies, thought leadership content, and marketing collateral.
- Assist with LinkedIn, email marketing, and other digital outreach activities.
- Support partner and campaign initiatives to increase market awareness and lead generation.
- Assist with market research to identify new industries, verticals, and target audiences.
CRM & Commercial Administration
- Maintain accurate records within HubSpot and other commercial systems.
- Ensure all prospect interactions and activities are properly tracked.
- Assist with pipeline reporting and forecasting.
- Support proposal preparation and other commercial administration where required.
- Ensure follow-up actions are completed and opportunities progress through the sales process.
- Support the pursuit of cross-sell, upsell, and client expansion opportunities as part of Updraft's commercial growth strategy.
Skills & Experience
- 2-5 years' experience in business development, sales, lead generation, or a related commercial role.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of outcomes.
- Comfortable engaging with stakeholders at various levels of an organisation.
Advantageous
- Experience selling SaaS or enterprise software solutions.
- Experience using CRM platforms such as HubSpot, Salesforce, or similar.
- Experience with LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Apollo, or similar prospecting tools.
- Exposure to legal technology, insurance, financial services, or workflow automation solutions.
- Experience supporting marketing campaigns or go-to-market initiatives.
