Job description

Job title: Business Development Geotechnical Sales Specialist – Mincon

Department: Sales / Construction & Geotechnical

Reports to: Regional Sales Manager / Geotechnical Sales Manager / GM

Job purpose:

Drive sustainable sales and margin growth for Mincon’s geotechnical and construction drilling solutions (casing advance systems, DTH hammers and bits, piling and foundation tools) by identifying, developing, and closing opportunities with contractors and project owners in mining, construction, and infrastructure markets.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a Regional business development plan focused on geotechnical and construction drilling applications (piling, micro piling, underpinning, overburden drilling, HDD, fore poling).
  • Identify, qualify, and pursue new business with foundation, ground‑engineering and drilling contractors, mining houses, and infrastructure project owners and consultants.
  • Proactively track major construction and mining projects from early planning through award; position Mincon solutions in tenders, specifications, and contractor proposals.
  • Promote Mincon’s geotechnical product range (casing advance systems, ring‑bit systems, overburden systems, DTH hammers, bits, and drilling accessories), ensuring correct technical selection for ground conditions and rig capabilities.
  • Prepare and deliver technical sales presentations, demonstrations, quotations, and tender responses in line with pricing and margin guidelines.
  • Negotiate commercial terms and close orders in collaboration with the regional sales manager and local branch teams, ensuring profitable growth and customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain a structured opportunity and account pipeline in the CRM, providing accurate monthly forecasts, activity reports, and market intelligence.
  • Work closely with Mincon’s service, product management, and Geotechnical Centre of Excellence to resolve technical issues, optimize performance on site, and feedback product improvement opportunities.
  • Coordinate and support field trials, operator training, and product introductions at key customer sites.
  • Represent Mincon at industry events, conferences, and customer days to strengthen brand presence and generate qualified leads.

Required qualifications and experience:

  • Degree or diploma in civil / geotechnical / mining engineering, geology, or related field; or substantial practical experience in geotechnical or drilling operations.
  • Proven track record (typically 3–5+ years) in technical sales, business development, or project-focused roles in geotechnical, foundation, drilling, or mining equipment/services.
  • Strong understanding of geotechnical and construction drilling methods (DTH, casing advance, rotary, HDD, forepoling, piling and micropiling), site constraints, and ground conditions.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage key accounts, develop new markets, and deliver against revenue and margin targets.
  • Proficiency with CRM and MS Office; able to interpret project, pricing, and basic financial metrics (volumes, revenue, margin).
  • Willingness to travel frequently within the region to visit customers, job sites, and Mincon locations.

  • High safety awareness and professionalism when visiting and supporting active sites.

Optional: key performance indicators:

  • Annual sales revenue and gross margin for geotechnical products in the assigned Region.
  • Number and value of new accounts opened, and strategic projects won per year.
  • Hit rate on tenders/quotations and pipeline conversion ratio.
  • Customer retention and satisfaction for key accounts.
