Business Development Manager - Export Markets (Africa)
ZAF-Johannesburg
HARTMANN South Africa seeks a commercially driven Business Development Manager responsible for developing and executing growth strategies across key African export markets (Southern Africa, East Africa, Central Africa, West Africa). The position focuses on sales growth, distributor management, customer relationship development, market expansion, tender participation and profitability improvement across assigned territories.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement export market growth strategies.
- Achieve annual sales, margin and market share targets.
- Manage, develop and evaluate distributor partners.
- Conduct regular business reviews with distributors and implement corrective actions where necessary.
- Identify and evaluate market entry opportunities for new products and business solutions.
- Identify new business opportunities and strategic accounts.
- Support public and private healthcare tenders.
- Provide market intelligence and competitor analysis.
- Build relationships with healthcare stakeholders and procurement decision-makers.
- Conduct customer visits and participate in regional healthcare exhibitions, congresses, and industry events.
- Monitor competitor activities, pricing, product launches, market developments, and regulatory changes.
- Monitor country profitability and recommend corrective actions where required.
- Drive forecasting, budgeting and business planning processes.
- Ensure compliance with HARTMANN policies, ethical standards, and local regulatory requirements.
- Maintain compliance with healthcare industry regulations and tender requirements.

Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor degree in Business, Marketing, Commerce, Healthcare Management, Life Sciences or related field.
- 5–8 years experience in business development, export sales or commercial leadership.
- Experience managing distributor networks across Africa.
- Strong understanding of African healthcare markets.
- Knowledge of distributor management, export logistics and channel development.
- Experience with healthcare tenders and procurement processes.
- Commercial negotiation and contract management expertise.
