Job description

Business Development Manager

Location: Remote – South Africa

Market: UK SME business owners

Salary: ZAR 30,000 – 40,000 pm + incentives

Role Focus: New business, referrals and partnerships

About Us

We are a leading UK business coaching and consulting firm that helps SME business owners increase profitability, strengthen leadership teams, improve business performance and build businesses that are less dependent on them.

Due to continued growth, we are looking for an ambitious and commercially driven Business Development Manager to help expand our client base and strategic partner network.

This is not a high-volume telesales role. While outbound activity will form part of the position, the primary focus is on building relationships, creating opportunities, developing referral partnerships and generating qualified meetings with business owners.

If you're naturally proactive, enjoy networking, and thrive on creating commercial opportunities, we'd love to hear from you.

The Role

Working closely with our sales, coaching and marketing teams, you will be responsible for generating qualified business opportunities and developing long-term referral relationships across the UK SME market.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Lead Generation

  • Generate qualified opportunities with UK-based SME business owners.
  • Build and manage a healthy pipeline of prospects and referral partners.
  • Identify and engage potential clients through LinkedIn, networking groups and targeted outreach.
  • Book discovery and strategy meetings for consultants and coaches.

Strategic Partnerships & Relationship Building

  • Develop relationships with accountants, HR consultancies, recruitment firms, business advisers and other organisations that support SME owners.
  • Create referral partnerships that generate ongoing introductions and opportunities.
  • Represent the business at online networking events, webinars and business forums.
  • Nurture contacts through professional and consistent follow-up.

Pipeline & CRM Management

  • Qualify leads against agreed criteria.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date CRM records.
  • Track activity, opportunities and conversion rates.
  • Provide regular pipeline and performance reporting.

Market Development

  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity and emerging business opportunities.
  • Share insights from prospect conversations to help shape sales and marketing strategies.
  • Identify new routes to market and potential growth opportunities.

About You

You are a confident relationship builder who enjoys engaging with senior decision-makers and creating commercial opportunities.

You will have:

  • Previous experience in business development, recruitment, sales or account management.
  • A proven track record of generating opportunities and building client relationships.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organisation and follow-up abilities.
  • A proactive, self-motivated approach and ability to work independently.
  • Professional spoken and written English.
  • Experience using LinkedIn, CRM systems and modern sales tools.
  • Ability to work UK business hours.
