Role Purpose
A Business Development Manager is responsible for overseeing the company's business development process, promoting longevity, analysing market research to identify potential customers, and developing strategies to expand the company's customer base and increase revenue.

1. Communication
- Represent the company in all forms of communication, maintaining good working relationships and
- networks with internal and external stakeholders, external suppliers, and clients.
- Respond to and follow up on all enquiries by email, telephone and personal visits as required.
- Responsibility for building and maintaining positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrate a strong customer service focus and quality communication and output in all interactions with key stakeholders and external contacts.
Measures of Effectiveness / Success
- All query requests are responded to within 24 hours.
- Communications with all stakeholders are professional.
- Management feedback.
- All internal and external reports are accurate and delivered by the deadline.
2. Data Analysis
- Identifying and researching opportunities that come up in new and existing markets.
3. Achieving Set Sales Targets
- Generate new business opportunities by meeting potential clients to understand their needs and providing relevant solutions.
- Managing the sales process to close new business opportunities.
- Building strong relationships with the existing portfolio of clients.
- Meeting and exceeding weekly and monthly activity and revenue targets.
- Preparing and delivering pitches and presentations to potential new clients.
- Lead negotiations with potential customers.
- Translating proposals into ready-to-sign contracts.
4. Market Expansion
- Working with senior team members to identify and manage company risks that might prevent growth.
- Communicating with clients to understand their needs and offer solutions to their problems.
- Creating positive, long-lasting relationships with current and potential clients.
- Attracting new clients by innovating and overseeing the sales process for the business.
- Developing and presenting proposals customised for each Customer's specific business needs.
- Ensuring excellent customer service through regular client follow up.
- Developing rapport with key decision makers.
5. General
- Combining efforts and fostering a collaborative environment within the business.
- Maintaining client activities in CRM.
- Owning the sales lifecycle from prospecting to implementation.
- Managing virtual and in-person sales meetings.
6. Staff Management
- Dealing with queries and escalated issues in timely manner, achieving resolution.
- Manage the performance of direct reports in accordance with the BMG performance management policy
- and procedure.
- Identify training and development needs, implementing plans to address requirements, as appropriate.
- Manage staff resources and productivity, minimizing absenteeism.
- Discipline staff in accordance with organizational codes and procedures so that improvement is shown.
- Facilitate communication through appropriate structures and systems.
Measures of Effectiveness / Success
- Staff perform in accordance with departmental objectives.
- Achieve competence.
- Compliance with legislation.
- A conducive environment for optimal service.
- Costs contained.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- National Certificate NQF Level 4 / Grade 12.
- Relevant University Degree NQF Level 5.
- Relevant sales qualification (advantageous).
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum five (5) to seven (7) years of experience in a Sales/Business environment.
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in Lubricant environment.
- Expert proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong customer service and sales skills for generating leads.
- Advanced presentation and persuasive skills.
- Exceptional organisational skills and impeccable attention to detail.
- A high degree of professionalism in dealing with diverse groups of people, senior executives, and staff.
- Expert in time management with the ability to react with appropriate levels of urgency.
- Ability to complete many tasks and projects with little or no guidance.
- Working knowledge of business management.
