Job description
As Leadership Team Member for South Africa, you will responsible for market entry and business development in targeted market. You will leverage your deep expertise in retail market and extensive industry networks to drive our business: introducing high-quality Chinese brands land in South Africa’s mainstream online and offline retail channels, and sourcing premium local South African products for the Chinese market. You will also build, lead and develop a local high-performing team, and report directly to the Head of Cross-Border Business at our China headquarters.
Job Responsibilities
- Local Channel Development & Chinese Brands Landing
- Build up strategic partnerships with South Africa’s major e-commerce platforms, including Takealot, Makro, Bobshop and Amazon South Africa.
- Identify, screen, onboard and partner with high-quality, competitive local South African products, including featured agricultural goods, trending FMCG hits and other high-potential categories for Chinese Market.
- Responsible for P&L and formulate clear business development strategy and action plan.
- Ensure all business operations in South Africa fully comply with local laws and regulations, industry norms and platform rules.
Requirements
- Deep expertise in the South African retail market, with a minimum of 5 years of senior leadership working experience in South Africa’s offline retail, FMCG or e-commerce industry. Must have a profound understanding of the local market structure, channel rules, consumer behavior and competitive landscape.
- Extensive established networks and resources with South Africa’s leading retail chains, with mature cooperative relationships and direct access to procurement teams and key decision-makers of Pick n Pay, Shoprite, Woolworths and other mainstream retailers. Proven track record of successfully driving international brands to officially enter and operate in these channels is mandatory.
- Exceptional business negotiation, interpersonal communication and resource integration skills, with the ability to independently lead cross-cultural business negotiations, engage with C-level executives of brands, channels and platforms, and drive cooperation from initial contact to final execution.
- Proven team management experience, with a minimum of 2 years of experience leading and developing sales or business development teams..
- Fluent in English (written and spoken) for professional business communication; Mandarin Chinese proficiency is a strong plus.
- Currently based in South Africa, with valid legal work and residence status in the country.
Pay: R50 000,00 - R70 000,00 per month
