About the Role

Disruptive IT is looking for an experienced Business Intelligence Developer for a 6-month contract opportunity based in Sandton.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, deploying and supporting end-to-end business intelligence and data solutions. The role requires strong hands-on experience across Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, PySpark, Spark SQL and T-SQL, with the ability to translate business requirements into reliable, governed data products, semantic models, dashboards and reporting solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Design, build, test and deploy end-to-end BI solutions.

Develop Power BI reports, dashboards and reusable semantic models.

Develop effective DAX calculations and dimensional data models.

Translate business requirements into technical BI solutions.

Build and maintain Microsoft Fabric pipelines, notebooks, Lakehouse and Warehouse objects.

Develop medallion-layer data transformations.

Use PySpark, Spark SQL and T-SQL for data ingestion, cleansing, transformation and validation.

Develop and optimise stored procedures, views, functions and complex SQL queries.

Implement incremental processing, exception handling, logging and reconciliation processes.

Support database performance tuning, indexing, security and access control.

Perform unit testing, regression testing and data reconciliation.

Apply data quality, metadata, lineage and governance standards.

Troubleshoot production incidents and conduct root-cause analysis.

Maintain technical documentation, data mappings, business rules and support guides.

Use source control and deployment pipelines across development, test and production environments.

Experience Required

4–6 years' professional experience in Business Intelligence, analytics or data development.

Proven hands-on experience developing production solutions using Power BI and T-SQL.

Practical experience with Microsoft Fabric.

Experience using PySpark or Spark SQL for ingestion and transformation workloads.

Experience supporting relational databases and troubleshooting data and performance issues.

Experience working through the full solution lifecycle including requirements, design, development, testing, deployment and support.

Advantageous

Property, REIT or property-management industry experience.

Azure DevOps, Azure Data Lake Storage or Azure Data Factory.

SSRS or paginated reporting experience.

Python development beyond PySpark.

MRI Property Management System experience.

Fraxion Spend Management experience.

Relevant Microsoft certifications in Power BI, Fabric, Azure or Data Engineering.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or diploma in:

Or another relevant field

Equivalent relevant qualifications combined with demonstrable BI development experience may also be considered.
