Job description

The Role Job Purpose:

The purpose of the Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) is to ensure that the right people are employed at the right time with the requisite competencies and skills. The role partners with business to identify any human capital trends and to implement interventions to achieve business objectives as well as to improve the wellbeing and performance of the workforce (i.e., turnover, absenteeism, overtime, engagement etc.) The role is accountable for managing the employee experience in RTT by ensuring that employees understand what is expected from them in their roles, are equipped with the skills to perform the role, are fairly compensated for the work required and that any grievances or IR processes are handled in the most professional and dignified manner. Lastly, the incumbent in this role assists business leaders in driving compliance with company values.

Duties:

  • Develop a clear and comprehensive understanding of the Divisional/ departmental plan, operating model, ways of working and business imperatives.
  • Implement HR programmes and initiatives that support the achievement of the divisional plan and contribute to the achievement of organisational goals.
  • Work with line managers to identify key trends, shifts or issues relating to people that impact delivery and ensure that an effective HR plan is in place to address these issues.
  • Partner with business leaders to identify workforce needs, optimise Divisional/ Departmental structures and develop recruitment and retention strategies to attract, develop, and retain top talent.
  • Identify and guide management on applicable change management initiatives to be incorporated into plans.
  • Implement standard HR practices for Division and allocated portfolios
  • Deliver services in line with expected performance standards and SOPS
  • Work with OD team and suppliers to review structure and validate the same for allocated portfolios
  • Support line management with workforce planning to anticipate the required labour demand and supply to achieve business requirements
  • Actively guide managers on shift patterns and support the containment of overtime costs.
  • Develop role profiles in partnership with line managers, as and when required and ensure approval is received from the manager once removed.
  • Drive the selection, onboarding and movement of employees within allocated portfolios
  • Determine talent sourcing requirements and provide contextual background to Talent Acquisition Specialist to support recruitment process.
  • Review shortlisted candidates provided by TA Consultant and actively participate in interviews with the line manager.
  • Partner with line management during interviews for supervisory level and above, provide input into the final selection decision by the line manager
  • Ensure the effective onboarding of new employees within allocated portfolios.
  • Montor new employee probation periods and provide guidance to managers where probation periods need to be extended or employees need to be terminated
  • Manage staff movements within allocated portfolios and ensure processes are implemented according to SOPs.
  • Analyse data and metrics to identify trends to support business decision making
  • Define the key problem areas and recommend solutions and action plans to solve problems / leverage opportunities.
  • Provide HR dashboards and reports for the People and Sustainability Executive and divisional leadership on all HR related data metrics

Skills and Experience Experience & Qualifications:

  • 2 years experience as an HRBP (essential)
  • 3 years experience as HR (Essential)
  • Experience in logistics/ distribution environment (Desirable)
  • Grade 12 (Essential)
  • Three year diploma or degree in HR / Industrial Psychology (Essential)
