DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this role is to source, purchase and expedite goods, materials and services required by B&E International’s operational and mining sites, ensuring value for money, timeous delivery and full compliance with the company’s Supply Chain Management Policy and Delegation of Authority.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure compliance with B&E Health & Safety and SHEQ requirements in all procurement activities.
- Source, negotiate and place purchase orders for goods, materials and services against approved requisitions.
- Obtain and evaluate competitive quotations from approved suppliers in line with procurement policy thresholds.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date supplier, pricing and purchase order records on ORB Fusion and Sage.
- Expedite outstanding purchase orders and proactively resolve delivery delays with suppliers.
- Verify goods received against purchase orders and resolve discrepancies with the warehouse and suppliers.
- Identify and implement cost-saving and consolidation opportunities across categories and sites.
- Support supplier pre-qualification, vendor approval and performance evaluation processes.
- Prepare procurement reports and provide feedback to the Procurement and Logistics Manager.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- A bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Purchasing, Logistics or a related field.
- A Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, Logistics or a related field.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
- 1 – 3 years’ experience in a buying/procurement role, preferably within a mining, plant or engineering environment.
- Experience using ERP/procurement systems (ORB Fusion, Sage or similar) will be advantageous.
- English language proficiency.
- Computer Literate in MS Office (Excel proficiency essential).
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
- Time management skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Sound understanding of SCM policies, procurement processes and Delegation of Authority frameworks.
- TEAM Player.
