Buyer's Assistant

takealot.com, South Africa's leading online retailer, is looking for a highly talented Buyer's Assistant to join our Retail team in Cape Town.

This position reports to the Divisional Buying Manager Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the division in all administrative functions linked to order processing and buy Plans.
• Auditing availability, selection and pricing of market best sellers and new releases on the site.
• Supporting on merchandising checks: Checking customer reviews, links and newsletters.
• Managing customer queries and escalating as necessary.
• Oversee day-to-day tasks such as managing stock levels, processing customer orders, handling stock classification, and addressing catalogue-related queries.
• Resolve stock quality disputes and manage ad hoc issues related to stock, products, deliveries, and other retail operations.
• Collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to drive the success of the retail category.
• Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the confidence to pick up the phone and engage directly with stakeholders.
• Be quick to react, proactive in identifying and resolving issues, and demonstrate a hands-on approach to ensuring smooth operations and effective problem-solving.

Qualification & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree (Business Science or Commerce degree preferable).
• At least 1-year related retail / commerce experience.
• An Existing industry networks, a significant plus.
• Competency in MS Office packages, particularly Excel.
• Retail buying/e-commerce experience preferable but not an absolute requirement
• At least 1-year related retail / commerce experience.
