Job description

We are looking for passionate, hardworking and reliable people to join our studio team in Cape Town.

We have 3 positions available:

1. IN-STUDIO CAMERA OPERATOR

You will be responsible for operating the camera during casting sessions and helping talent feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera.

Responsibilities include:

  • Operating the studio camera during casting sessions
  • Guiding talent through performances and taking direction from the casting team
  • Making talent feel comfortable and helping them understand what is required
  • Ensuring footage is captured correctly
  • Setting up and checking studio equipment
  • Following the studio's casting and filming procedures

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Confident and comfortable communicating with people
  • Technically minded and quick to learn
  • Able to take direction
  • Calm and professional under pressure
  • Passionate about film, casting and production

2. FRONT OF HOUSE / ADMIN

You will be the first point of contact for talent arriving at the studio.

Responsibilities include:

  • Signing talent in and managing arrivals
  • Managing talent information and casting paperwork
  • Following up with agents regarding talent and outstanding information
  • Communicating with the casting team throughout the day
  • Keeping records accurate and up to date
  • Assisting with the general organisation of the studio
  • Making sure talent move efficiently through the casting process

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Extremely organised and detail-oriented
  • Good at communicating and following up
  • Comfortable working with large amounts of information
  • Computer literate
  • Professional and friendly
  • Able to multitask and work efficiently under pressure

3. FOOTAGE UPLOADER

You will be responsible for uploading casting footage to our client platform and ensuring that all footage meets the required technical standards before being submitted.

Responsibilities include:

  • Uploading casting footage to the relevant client platforms
  • Checking video and sound quality
  • Making sure footage has uploaded correctly
  • Identifying and flagging technical issues
  • Checking that all required footage and information are present
  • Reporting any problems to the casting team
  • Working efficiently to meet casting deadlines

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Technically minded and highly detail-oriented
  • Comfortable working with computers and digital platforms
  • Able to identify problems quickly
  • Organised and reliable
  • Comfortable working under time pressure
  • A fast learner who can follow detailed processes

TRAINING

No specific qualifications are required for these positions.

All successful candidates will complete a compulsory 3-day full-time training period in our studio before being placed into their position.

Training will cover:

  • Our studio systems and workflow
  • Camera and equipment setup
  • Casting room procedures
  • Uploading systems
  • Quality control processes
  • Studio administration
  • Communication and casting procedures

You will be trained on our systems and processes, so previous experience with our specific equipment or software is not required.

What matters most is that you are willing to learn, understand instructions quickly and take pride in your work.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Experience in the film, television, casting, production or entertainment industry will count in your favour, but it is not essential.

For all three positions, you must be:

  • Organised and responsible
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Professional and respectful
  • Able to work independently when required
  • Comfortable working long hours when necessary

IMPORTANT REQUIREMENTS

You must have:

  • Your own reliable transport
  • Your own computer/laptop
  • Your own smartphone
  • The ability to work long hours when required
  • Availability for the compulsory 3-day studio training

WORKING HOURS

Casting can be a fast-paced and demanding environment, particularly during our busiest season.

Our peak season generally runs from September – March, when casting volumes can be extremely high and longer working hours may be required.

Things become quieter during the winter months, but flexibility and reliability remain important throughout the year.

If you're looking for a relaxed 9–5 job, this may not be the position for you.

Pay: R120,00 per hour
