Car Guard

Overall Purpose of the Position:

The purpose of this role is to enhance safe parking and movement of staff and visitors between the TASK HQ, Parow and the designated parking areas during working hours, increasing vehicle safety by assisting to prevent theft and vandalism, while also assisting the contracted security company where needed. The role would assist the building manager with routine duties as requested from time to time.

Key Performance Areas (KPAs) & Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

• Offering a friendly and helpful presence whilst accompanying staff to and from their vehicles to the main entrance. Keeping them and their belongings safe
• Guarding the parked vehicles during the day and monitoring the parking areas to detect and deter any suspicious activity.
• Escalating safety issues and concerns to the contracted Security at the main entrance as well as the building manager, if needed.
• Assisting the contracted security personnel with access control.
• Safeguarding parking areas for TASK Employees through vigilance and reporting
• Performing relevant building-related tasks as may be reasonably required.
• Performing building and parking area walk abouts and general checks to observe abnormalities or risks, where applicable
• Performing any other tasks as may be reasonably required.

Ideal Requirements

• Matric – grade 12 would be beneficial
• Security qualification and experience (Advantageous)
• Experience in building maintenance (Advantageous)
• Knowledge of 2way radio communication (Advantageous)
• Valid Driver’s license (Advantageous)

Key Personal Inherent Characteristics

• Surveillance skills and detailed orientation, ability to monitor the parking areas and vehicles in an alert and effective manner.
• Observation skills, to recognize possible threats or criminal activity taking place
• Communication skills to effectively communicate with all
• Physically fit in order to stand or walk for extended periods
• Able to work in a team
