Car Wash Driver Attendant

Blue Elephant Valets is looking for reliable and hardworking Car Wash Driver Attendants for our Harvest Place branch in Kempton Park.

This is a practical, physically active position focused mainly on washing vehicles to a consistently high standard. It is not a dedicated driving position; however, employees will be required to move customer vehicles safely between the wash bay and driveway.

Main duties

• Wash vehicles thoroughly and maintain a consistent quality standard.
• Follow Blue Elephant Valets’ washing procedures and safety instructions.
• Complete vehicles within the required time without sacrificing quality.
• Pay attention to small details, missed areas, dirt, bugs and rims.
• Safely move manual and automatic vehicles around the premises.
• Check the surrounding area before reversing or moving any vehicle.
• Use equipment and cleaning products correctly.
• Immediately report vehicle damage, hazards or unsafe behaviour to management.
• Work as part of a team during busy periods.
• Keep the wash bay and equipment clean and organised.
• Assist customers politely when required.
• Refer all customer complaints to management.

Compulsory requirements

• Valid South African driver’s licence.
• Recent experience driving on public roads.
• Confidence driving both manual and automatic vehicles.
• Ability to reverse and manoeuvre vehicles safely in tight spaces.
• Reliable transport to and from work.
• Availability to work according to a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays.
• Reliable attendance and good punctuality.
• Willingness to follow instructions, receive correction and learn the correct procedures.
• Ability to perform continuous physical work involving standing, bending and frequent movement.
• Ability to work outdoors in hot, cold and wet weather conditions, with reasonable accommodation where applicable.

Experience and education

• Previous car-wash experience is helpful but not compulsory.
• Matric is not compulsory.
• Full on-the-job training will be provided.
• Entry-level applicants with the required reliability, driving ability and willingness to learn are welcome to apply.

Selection process

Shortlisted candidates will be required to:

• Present their original driver’s licence.
• Complete a structured interview.
• Demonstrate safe vehicle handling.
• Complete a practical work assessment.
• Show that they can follow instructions, maintain quality and arrive when expected.

Attendance, punctuality, reliability and communication throughout the recruitment process will form part of the assessment.
