ABOUT US:

Urban Design Projects is an established construction and renovation company. We pride ourselves on high-quality residential and commercial structural upgrades and finishes. We are seeking a highly skilled, passionate, and precise Carpenter to join our team.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are looking for a reliable Carpenter who is highly experienced with on-site renovation work. You will be responsible for everything from first-fix structural timber work (formwork, roofing, framing, ceiling, etc) to second-fix high-end finishes (doors, skirtings, and architectural features). You must be able to work independently from architectural drawings and maintain Urban Design Projects’ standard of precision.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Read and interpret architectural blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine accurate material layouts and dimensions.
Perform first-fix carpentry: structural timber framing, roofing structures, partitioning, and floor joists.
Perform second-fix carpentry: doors, window frames, architraves, skirtings.
Confidently operate a wide range of power tools, hand tools, and heavy workshop/site equipment safely.
Cut, shape, and smooth timber, wood composites, and other building materials to exact specifications.
Work closely with the Site Foreman and other trades (plumbers, electricians) to ensure smooth project progression.
Source and accurately list required materials for upcoming project phases to minimize waste.
Maintain a clean, professional, and safe working environment on-site.

REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum 5+ years of active experience as a carpenter, specifically within residential/commercial renovations.
Formal Trade Test certificate (Qualified Carpenter) is highly advantageous, but extensive, verifiable on-site experience is crucial.
Strong knowledge of South African building standards, timber framing, and modern finishing techniques.
Ability to read technical construction drawings and execute them accurately without constant supervision.
Exceptional eye for detail, crisp joints, and level finishes.
Sober habits, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.

Pay: R15 000,00 per month
