Job description
The role of the Cash-up Controller is to ensure accurate daily reconciliation of all tender types (cash, card, EFT) against sales records, verify compliance with cash handling procedures, and promptly investigate and resolve any discrepancies to maintain financial integrity.
Reconciliation & Compliance:
- Import the cash ups on a weekly basis to the Cash up summary
- Ensure total sales on Excel Cash-ups balance to Cashier Daily taking summary
- Z reading balance to the cashier total
- Count the integrated slips individually
- Ensure only merchant copies received, NOT customer copies
- If signature is required, ensure customer signature reflects on the card slips
- Add up the manual card slips by transaction total
- Ensure that the trans void slips and copy of the slip for the return
- Ensure that customer name, signature and telephone number reflects on the slip
- Observe coinage on the cash declaration
- Flag and document any recurring discrepancy patterns for management review
Reporting & Administration:
- Prepare and maintain cash reporting lists for all stores
- Submit consolidated cash up reporting to the Accountant via single email
- Escalate unresolved discrepancies
- Maintain accurate filing and documentation of all reconciliation records
- Complete daily reconciliations after receipt of cash up documentation
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12
- Previous Retail experience will be a strong advantage
- Advanced Excel Skills (Non-negotiable)
- Excellent Communication Skills
