Job Advert Summary

The Cycle Counter is responsible for regularly counting and verifying inventory to ensure stock records are accurate and discrepancies are identified and resolved promptly. The role supports effective inventory management, stock accuracy, and warehouse operations.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in inventory control, warehousing, stock counting, or a similar environment.
  • Basic computer literacy and ability to work with inventory management systems.
  • Experience using handheld scanners or warehouse management systems is advantageous.
  • Good numerical and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to work accurately and methodically.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct scheduled and ad-hoc physical counts of inventory, products, materials, and supplies.
  • Compare physical stock quantities with system records.
  • Identify, investigate, and report stock discrepancies.
  • Recount items where discrepancies are identified to confirm accuracy.
  • Record all inventory counts accurately using the required systems, scanners, or documentation.
  • Investigate potential causes of inventory variances, including incorrect receiving, picking, put-away, transfers, damages, or incorrect locations.
  • Ensure stock is correctly labelled, identified, and stored in the appropriate locations.
  • Assist with full stock counts and stock-take activities when required.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and supporting documentation.
  • Communicate discrepancies and unresolved issues to the Inventory Controller or Warehouse Supervisor.
  • Follow inventory control procedures and company policies.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and ensure counting areas are safe and organised.
  • Assist warehouse staff with locating and verifying stock when required.
  • Operate warehouse equipment safely when authorised and appropriately trained.
  • Perform other reasonable duties as assigned by management.
