Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Chartered Accountant to join our finance team at the Cape Town office. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing financial reporting, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing audit processes, and providing strategic financial insights to support business growth across our operations.

The role supports the Group Finance function and aims to maintain sound financial controls and reporting standards.

Role Based: Cape Town

Reports to: Managing Director

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1.      Accounting & Group Reporting

·       Maintain accurate accounting records and report for all companies within the Group.

·       Prepare monthly accounting and management packs for all Group companies.

·       Prepare journals, reconciliations, accruals, and month-end schedules.

·       Analyse financial results and support month-end, year-end, and Group reporting processes.

2.     Statutory Compliance

·       Calculate, reconcile, and submit PAYE, UIF, and SDL.

·       Maintain statutory records and support tax compliance and related reviews.

·       Ensure compliance and good standing with UIF, Provident Fund, and COIDA.

3.    Budgeting & Cashflow

·       Monitor expenditure against approved budgets and prepare variance analysis.

·       Support and report on training and skills development budget analysis.

·       Maintain cashflow schedules and provide information for cashflow forecasting.

4.    Audit & Financial Governance

·       Prepare and maintain audit packs for all Group companies to ensure continuous audit readiness.

·       Maintain complete supporting documentation and audit trails.

·       Coordinate information requests from external auditors with Group Finance.

·       Ensure financial records comply with applicable accounting standards, policies, and internal controls.

·       Identify and escalate financial discrepancies, risks, and control weaknesses.

5.    REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience

·       Qualification: Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA[SA]) or equivalent recognized professional accounting designation.

·       3–5 years' post-qualification experience, preferably in a Group, financial services, or multi-company environment.

·       Experience in management reporting, audit preparation, payroll, statutory compliance, reconciliations, budgeting, and financial analysis.

·       Experience preparing management packs and audit packs across multiple entities will be advantageous.

Technical Skills

·       Strong Microsoft Excel and financial analysis skills.

·       Proficiency in accounting and financial reporting systems.

·       Strong understanding of South African tax, payroll, and financial reporting requirements. Added advantage for statutory and governance for Namibia, Botswana and Lesotho.

·       Knowledge of relevant accounting standards, compliance and financial controls.
