Checker Operator - Clayville

Overall Responsibility The key purpose of this role is to check, load, unload and stack materials safely and efficiently while maintaining our governance and Customer service standards.

Focus Area 1: Safety

• Identify and report SROs (Safety Risk Observations)
• Adherence to the health, safety and environmental standards.
• Conduct pre-trip inspections prior to the start of each shift using the forklift inspection checklist
• Adhere to department of Labour stacking exemptions
• Appropriate personal protective equipment used as designated by site safety standards

Focus Area 2: Manufacturing Excellence Program

• Effective management and care of the physical appearance of forklifts
• Ensure that the forklift is operated and maintained in optimal condition
• Ensure that fuel/battery level and forklift fluids are at accepted operating levels.
• Site housekeeping standards maintained and adhered to
• Effective stock quality management
• Warehouse stock age standards maintained by ensuring that stock rotation principles are applied
• Ensures quality control through checking of packaging materials on warehouse floor and prior to loading
• Participation in handover process before and after every shift
• Accurate daily stock count performed using handheld device
• Maintain clear and effective communication with Inventory Manager, Inventory Coordinators and Warehouse Supervisor
• Accurate checking, loading and unloading of trucks
• Load empties on the line and remove and stack finished product from line to bins whilst ensuring optimal line productivity
• Conversant with relevant business information, policies, processes and procedures.

Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent qualification
• Valid Forklift Operator Licence/Certificate.
• A minimum of 3 years' experience operating a forklift will be advantageous
• Proficiency in the use of handheld devices will be an added advantage
