Job Title: Chief Operations Officer – Student Accommodation
Location: Johannesburg CBD
Job Type: Full-Time
Salary: based on experience
We are seeking an experienced and proactive COO to oversee the day-to-day management of a dynamic student accommodation buildings. This is an exciting opportunity for a driven professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about delivering exceptional resident experiences.
About the Role
As COO, you will be responsible for the overall performance, safety, compliance, and resident satisfaction of the buildings. You will lead onsite teams, manage facilities and contractors, and ensure smooth operational delivery across all departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily building operations, ensuring high standards of service delivery
- Lead, motivate, and manage onsite staff teams
- Manage occupancy levels, lettings, and resident communications
- Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations and statutory requirements
- Oversee maintenance, facilities management, and contractor performance
- Manage budgets, cost control, and financial reporting
- Handle resident queries, complaints, and conflict resolution professionally
- Implement operational improvements to enhance efficiency and resident experience
About You
- Proven experience in operations management (student accommodation, residential, hospitality, or property management preferred)
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities
- Financially literate with budget management experience
- Sound knowledge of health & safety and compliance requirements
- Customer-focused with excellent communication skills
- Able to work independently and make decisions under pressure
