CIMA Trainee Accountant

About the Role

As a CIMA Trainee Accountant, you'll gain practical, on-the-job experience across our client portfolio while working towards your CIMA qualification. You'll work closely with our accounting and advisory teams, building the technical and professional skills needed to become a Chartered Global Management Accountant.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation of management accounts and financial statements under IFRS for SMEs
• Support monthly bookkeeping, reconciliations, and reporting for a portfolio of clients on Xero
• Assist with VAT, PAYE, and other statutory submissions under supervision
• Help prepare working papers and supporting schedules for annual financial statements
• Support CIPC compliance tasks (annual returns, beneficial ownership filings, etc.)
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting for clients as required
• Liaise professionally with clients to gather information and follow up on outstanding items
• Maintain accurate, well-organised working files using Karbon, Hubdoc and Dext
• Complete CIMA practical experience logs and case study requirements on schedule
• Attend internal training sessions and study leave as per your CIMA study plan

Minimum Requirements

• Currently registered for, or about to commence, the CIMA Professional Qualification (or CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting completed)
• A relevant B.Com or equivalent qualification (advantageous but not essential, depending on CIMA entry route)
• Strong Excel skills; exposure to Xero, Sage, or QuickBooks advantageous
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines
• A valid driver's licence and own transport advantageous
• South African citizen or valid work permit holder
