About the Role

Cruzline Projects is looking for an experienced and hands-on Civils Plant Manager to oversee our plant and equipment operations across various civil construction projects.

We are looking for someone who understands plant, machinery and people — ideally someone with a mechanical background who can manage operators, coordinate maintenance and repairs, and ensure that all plant and equipment is safe, available and properly maintained.

The successful candidate must also be comfortable with the administrative side of plant management, including records, inspections, servicing schedules, hours, fuel usage and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate all plant and equipment used on civil construction sites.
• Supervise, manage and monitor plant operators, ensuring they are properly allocated and productive.
• Coordinate the daily movement, allocation and utilisation of plant between projects.
• Monitor plant condition and arrange servicing, repairs and preventative maintenance.
• Conduct regular inspections and ensure plant is safe, compliant and fit for use.
• Keep accurate records of plant hours, maintenance, repairs, breakdowns, fuel and operating costs.
• Liaise with mechanics, suppliers, subcontractors and site teams regarding repairs and maintenance.
• Manage breakdowns and minimise plant downtime.
• Ensure operators complete daily pre-start inspections, checklists and plant documentation.
• Monitor operator performance, attendance, conduct and compliance with company procedures.
• Assist with identifying mechanical faults and determining when equipment requires attention.
• Maintain an up-to-date plant register and service history.
• Provide regular reports to management on plant utilisation, maintenance, breakdowns and costs.
• Ensure compliance with company Health & Safety requirements and relevant legislation.
• Assist with purchasing, sourcing of spare parts and obtaining quotations where required.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 / Matric.
• 5+ years' experience in plant management, preferably within the civil construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of earthmoving equipment and construction plant.
• Experience managing plant operators and site-based teams.
• Mechanical experience or a qualified Mechanic / Diesel Mechanic background will be highly advantageous.
• Good understanding of plant maintenance and preventative maintenance schedules.
• Strong administrative and record-keeping skills.
• Computer literate – MS Excel and MS Office.
• Valid driver's licence.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple construction sites/projects.
