Job description

Dis-Chem Pharmacies Headoffice requires the services of a reputable Clinic Outreach Nurse. To provide clinical nursing care and health promotion onsite, within the workplace, supporting employee health and wellness. The role is aimed at prevention, early detection, treatment of common illnesses/injuries, and referral for specialist care. Also to coordinate workplace health programmes, occupational risk management, and ensure compliance with relevant health & safety legislation.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • Degree or Diploma in Nursing(General / Professional Nurse)
  • Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
  • 2 – 3 years of clinical nursing experience; experience in occupational health or

workplace nursing preferred

Advantage :

  • Post-basic qualification in Occupational Health or Public Health

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with Nurse practitioner regarding communication to patients.
  • Provide first aid, assessment, and management of work-related injuries.
  • Manage minor ailments and illnesses encountered by employees onsite.
  • Conduct wellness checks (e.g. blood pressure monitoring, glucose tests, cholesterol screening) as required.
  • Provide health counselling (e.g. smoking cessation, diet, exercise)
  • Ensure proper infection control and hygiene practices in workplace clinic
  • Plan and deliver health promotion programmes (e.g. wellness days, vaccination drives, mental health,stress management).
  • Promote awareness of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), lifestyle diseases, and preventive measures.
  • Conduct educational sessions, seminars for employees on health topics.
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate medical records for employees (clinic logs, illness / injury reports).
  • Produce regular reports on health metrics: staff health status, incidents, uptake of wellness programmes, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements (e.g. Department of Labour regulations, Occupational Health & Safety Act).
  • Maintain professional nursing registration with SANC.
  • Keep up to date with relevant workplace health, occupational safety, and public health guidelines.
  • Participate in trainings, audits, quality improvement initiatives.
  • Adhere to Dis-Chem Policies and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety rules and regulations

Special conditions of employment:

  • Registered with the South African Nursing Council
  • Based onsite; working in a clinic or dedicated health / wellness room.
  • Working hours aligned with company operations; may include shift work or extended hours depending on workplace requirements.

  • Willing and able to work retail hours
  • Physically fit and able to stand for a long period
  • Clear credit and criminal records
