Clubhouse Bar Manager

The Steenberg Golf Estate is seeking an experienced and hands-on Clubhouse Bar Manager to oversee the day-to-day Front of House operations and ensure an exceptional food and beverage experience for members and guests.

Overview:

The role is responsible for delivering professional, efficient, and high-quality service across all front of house touchpoints, ensuring member and guest needs are met to the highest standards. Through effective communication, leadership, coaching, and ongoing team development, the Clubhouse Bar Manager will ensure staff remain aligned to Steenberg’s service standards and culture commitment while promoting operational excellence and a consistently positive hospitality experience.

Experience and Requirements:

• Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a front of house, restaurant, hospitality, or food & beverage supervisory/management role, preferably within a hospitality, golf club, estate, or luxury environment.
• Proven experience leading and motivating front of house teams to deliver exceptional service standards.
• Strong operational knowledge of restaurant and front of house processes, including guest service, reservations, functions, shift planning, and service delivery.
• Experience with staff scheduling, workforce planning, onboarding, training, and performance management.
• Working knowledge of POS systems, cash-ups, stock control, reporting, and operational administration.
• Strong customer service orientation with the ability to build relationships and manage member and guest expectations professionally.
• Ability to resolve guest concerns, manage complaints effectively, and implement corrective action where required.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, organisational, and leadership skills.
• Sound understanding of health, safety, hygiene, and hospitality service standards.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, public holidays, and functions/events.
• Passion for hospitality, service excellence, food, and wine appreciation advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the day-to-day front of house operations to ensure exceptional member and guest experiences.
• Lead, coach, support, and develop staff to maintain high service standards and operational excellence.
• Manage staffing requirements, shift planning, onboarding, training, and team communication.
• Ensure all staff consistently deliver service aligned to Steenberg standards and Culture Commitment.
• Coordinate restaurant and event/function readiness, ensuring smooth service delivery and operational efficiency.
• Monitor POS systems, cash-ups, stock control, and operational reporting processes.
• Handle member and guest feedback, complaints, and service recovery professionally and efficiently.
• Monitor operational performance and implement corrective actions to maintain quality and consistency.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety standards, hygiene requirements, and operating procedures.
• Work collaboratively with Back of House and other departments to ensure a seamless hospitality experience.
