CNC Turner

Job Description NOV Gqeberha is seeking a highly skilled Senior CNC Turner / CNC Programmer to join its precision engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for manufacturing, repair, setup, programming and optimization of complex precision-machined components, including Horizontal (HTL) and Vertical CNC Lathe (VTL) machining, onboard programming and CAD/CAM support.

Key Roles, Responsibilities & Accountabilities

• Manufacture and repair precision-machined components according to engineering drawings and specifications.
• Setup, operate and optimize Horizontal (HTL) and Vertical CNC Lathes (VTLs), CNC turning centers and conventional machine tools.
• Machine large diameter oilfield components and repair equipment to tight tolerances.
• Develop, edit and optimize CNC programs.
• Perform onboard programming, troubleshooting and process optimization.
• Support CAD/CAM programming and machining strategy development.
• Provide technical support and mentoring to machinists and apprentices.
• Maintain traceability, quality documentation, and compliance with NOV procedures.
• Support NCR, CAR and root cause investigations.

Qualifications & Experience

• Qualified Turner Machinist / Toolmaker or equivalent recognized trade qualification.
• Minimum 5 years CNC turning experience.
• Proven experience operating and programming Horizontal (HTL), Vertical CNC Lathes (VTLs).
• Strong experience with CNC setup, programming, and process optimization.
• Experience machining large diameter components and repair work.
• Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings.

CNC Control Experience Essential: DynaPath, Fanuc, Siemens, Mazatrol / Mazak

Preferred Additional Skills

• CAD/CAM programming experience.
• Experience on CNC Milling (VMC / HBM) or Manual Milling machine equipment.
• Experience in Cold Rolling of Oil Field Threads.
• Experience machining BOP, Wellhead, Elevator and Rotary equipment.
• API, VAM, Grant Prideco or OCTG experience advantageous.
