Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate MIG/CO₂ welding machines and equipment.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, welding symbols, and specifications.
Select the correct welding wire, gas flow, voltage, amperage, and machine settings.
Weld metal components according to required dimensions and quality standards.
Prepare materials by cutting, grinding, cleaning, and positioning them before welding.
Inspect welds for cracks, porosity, undercutting, distortion, and other defects.
Use measuring tools such as verniers, gauges, squares, and tape measures to check dimensions.
Perform grinding, finishing, and cleaning of welded components.
Maintain welding machines, tools, gas cylinders, and other equipment in safe working condition.
Follow workplace health and safety procedures, including proper use of PPE.
Identify and report faulty equipment, defective materials, or welding problems.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Complete production records, inspection sheets, and other required documentation.
Work according to production schedules and meet required quality and output targets.
Follow company welding procedures, including preheating and post-weld requirements where applicable.
Assist with repairs, maintenance, and fabrication work when required.
