Job Overview
We are a fast-growing logistics provider seeking an experienced, reliable, and safety-conscious Code 14 (EC) Tautliner Driver. The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting freight safely across local and national routes, ensuring high service levels and strict adherence to road safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate Fleet: Safely drive Code 14 (EC) trucks with Tautliner and Superlink trailers.
- Cargo Security: Correctly secure, strap, and tension curtains to prevent cargo damage or theft.
- Vehicle Checks: Conduct strict pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections; report all defects immediately.
- Route Navigation: Plan and execute local and long-distance routes across South Africa efficiently while meeting tight delivery schedules.
- Compliance: Adhere strictly to the National Road Traffic Act, driving hours, and company safety protocols.
- Administration: Ensure all delivery notes, trip sheets, and fuel receipts are accurately completed and submitted.
Minimum Requirements
- Licence: Valid South African Code 14 (EC) driver's licence.
- Permit: Valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP).
- Experience: Minimum 2 to 5 years of verifiable experience operating Tautliner/Superlink setups.
- Records: Clean criminal record and a clean driving history.
- References: At least two contactable references from previous transport employers.
- Availability: Willingness to work flexible hours, weekends, and undertake long-distance trips.
Competencies & Skills
- Excellent defensive driving capabilities.
- Strong understanding of Tautliner locking mechanisms and load-securing equipment.
- Ability to communicate clearly in English (verbal and written).
- Basic troubleshooting and mechanical knowledge.
