Vacancy: Commis Chef
Cradle Boutique Hotel is looking for a passionate and motivated Commis Chef to join our professional kitchen team. This position is ideal for an enthusiastic individual who is eager to grow their culinary career within a high-quality hospitality environment.
Job Summary
The Commis Chef will assist the senior chefs in preparing and presenting high-quality dishes while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, cleanliness, and kitchen organisation. The successful candidate must be willing to learn, work efficiently under pressure, and contribute positively to the kitchen team.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of food according to the menu and chef’s instructions.
- Ensure all food preparation meets the hotel’s quality and presentation standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of kitchen workstations.
- Follow all food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Assist with stock control, food storage, and stock rotation (FIFO).
- Support senior chefs during service periods.
- Ensure all kitchen equipment is used and maintained correctly.
- Work effectively as part of a team to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- Relevant culinary qualification or currently studying towards one (advantageous).
- Previous experience in a professional kitchen environment will be beneficial.
- Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and kitchen operations.
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
- Ability to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
