Job Purpose
The Department of Local Government Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a suitably qualified and competent individual to supervise, coordinate and support Community Development Workers (CDWs) in the implementation of community development programmes, service delivery facilitation, stakeholder engagement, and community participation initiatives. The Supervisor ensures effective performance, reporting, stakeholder coordination, and achievement of the Community Development Workers Programme (CDWP) objectives.
Minimum Requirements
An appropriate 3 year National Diploma/B-Degree (equivalent or higher qualification); A minimum of 3 years relevant experience recognisable experience in Community Development after obtaining the required qualification; A valid code B (or higher) driving licence. NB: People with disabilities that restrict driving abilities, but who have reasonable access to transport, may also apply.

Key Performance Areas
Supervise and support Community Development Workers within the designated area; Community Development Coordination; Stakeholder and Intergovernmental Relations; Service Delivery Monitoring and Governance; Reporting, Monitoring and Evaluation; Managerial/Supervisory functions.
Competencies
Knowledge of the following: Community development knowledge, skills, attitudes and values to engage in the social development of communities; Understanding of human behaviour and social systems and legislation to assist with interventions at the points where people interact with their environments in order to promote self-empowerment; The ability and competence to co-ordinate community development structures and ability to manage projects; The ability to influence individuals and group to participate in their own self-empowerment ventures. Skills in the following: Communication (Verbal and written); Numeracy; Computer Literacy; Language skills; Project Management; Presentation skills; Facilitation; Research skills (information gathering and analyses); Supervisory skills; Problem solving; Report writing.
Remuneration
R 413 001 - R 486 501 per annum (Salary level 8)
Note on remuneration in addition service benefits or obligations for qualifying employees (medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc) are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.

The selection process will be guided by the EE targets of the employing department.
