Community Impact and Development Manager (Social Worker)

Position Purpose
The Community Impact and Development Manager (Registered Social Worker) is a management position responsible for the oversight, quality assurance, development, and expansion of FAMSA Western Cape's psychosocial and family preservation services across vulnerable communities. This position will report to the Clinical Manager.
The incumbent will provide leadership in strengthening community-based interventions, promoting family well-being, enhancing stakeholder partnerships, and increasing organisational visibility and impact. The position is responsible for ensuring that services are delivered consistently, professionally, and in alignment with organisational objectives, legislative requirements, and best practice standards.
Passionate about strengthening families and communities, the incumbent will drive family preservation initiatives through psychosocial interventions, community awareness and advocacy campaigns, stakeholder collaboration, and strategic marketing initiatives.
Job Requirements:
- Completed Social Work Degree (NQF 8).
- Active SACSPP Registration in good standing.
- Relevant Supervision Training Completed.
- Minimum 8 years’ experience as Social Worker.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as Social Work Supervisor.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in Management.
- Managerial, co-ordinating, organizing, financial and administrative skills.
- Proven experience in community programme coordination and networking.
- Demonstratable supervision knowledge and skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Writing and language skills.
- English with Afrikaans/Xhosa advantageous.
- Computer Literate (above average).
- Emotional stability / maturity.
- Valid driver’s licence.
- Knowledge of relevant resources.
Roles and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Clinical Supervision and Professional Support
Provide professional supervision, mentoring, and support to designated social work and community-based staff in accordance with statutory and organisational requirements.
Ensure quality assurance and adherence to professional standards, ethical practice, and service delivery protocols.
Facilitate ongoing professional development and reflective practice among staff.
Limited Counselling and Specialist Intervention
Provide limited direct counselling and specialist interventions where clinically indicated.
Manage complex, high-risk, or specialised cases requiring senior professional involvement.
Provide consultation and support to staff on challenging cases and service-related matters.
Community Programme Coordination and Quality Assurance
Coordinate, monitor, and evaluate community workshops, psycho-educational programmes, and group interventions across all service areas.
Ensure that community programmes are effectively planned, implemented, monitored, and evaluated in line with organisational targets and funding requirements.
Promote consistency, quality, and innovation in programme delivery across all FAMSA community offices.
Family Advocacy, Community Awareness and Prevention Services
In cooperation with the management team, design, coordinate, and oversee community awareness and advocacy campaigns that promote family preservation, healthy relationships, child protection, and psychosocial well-being.
Lead and coordinate organisational activities linked to significant national and international awareness events, including but not limited to:
- International Day of Families;
- Child Protection Week;
- Women's Month;
- 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children; and
Stakeholder Relations, Networking and Community Development
Build, maintain, and strengthen strategic relationships with community structures, government departments, NGOs, schools, health facilities, faith-based organisations, and other relevant stakeholders.
Facilitate meaningful networking and collaborative partnerships across all service areas to strengthen referral pathways and increase access to services.
Represent FAMSA Western Cape on relevant forums, committees, and community structures.
Promote integrated service delivery and collaborative community responses to social challenges.
Brand Visibility, Marketing and Communication
Increase and strengthen FAMSA Western Cape's visibility, accessibility, and community footprint across all operational areas.
Develop and coordinate community marketing initiatives to ensure that individuals, families, and communities are aware of and able to access organisational services.
Coordinate and oversee social media content highlighting programme activities, success stories, and community interventions, in accordance with POPIA and organisational policies.
Facilitate and participate in media engagements, including radio, television, print, and digital media interviews, to promote organisational services and advocacy initiatives.
Organisational Integration and Service Cohesion
Promote collaboration, integration, and cohesion between FAMSA community offices to ensure consistency in service delivery, organisational culture, and programme implementation.
Facilitate the sharing of best practices, resources, and innovative approaches across service areas.
Support organisational development initiatives aimed at strengthening the overall impact and sustainability of services.
Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting
Monitor programme outputs, outcomes, and community impact against organisational and funder targets.
Prepare and submit high-quality reports for management, donors, and stakeholders as required.
Utilise monitoring and evaluation information to inform service improvements and strategic planning.
