CONFECTIONER & BAKER FOR SUPERMARKET - GEORGE

The Role

Large supermarket in George requires a confectioner and a baker to produce and bake high-quality bakery products according to their standards, recipes, and daily production plans, ensuring maximum sales, customer satisfaction, and minimal wastage in line with store profitability targets.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Baker: Prepare and bake bread, rolls, according to shop’s recipes and standards.
• Confectioner: Prepare and bake confectionery, cakes, tarts and pastries
• Ensure shelves are fully stocked during peak trading hours.
• Maintain consistent product quality, size, and presentation.
• Minimize shrinkage, waste, and overproduction.
• Assist Bakery Manager with stock counts and stock rotation.
• Report low stock levels and ingredient shortages immediately.

Hygiene, Health & Safety:

• Comply with food safety standards and hygiene policies.
• Ensure correct date labelling and product shelf-life control.
• Maintain a clean and sanitized workstation.

Customer Service:

• Assist customers with product information and special orders.
• Ensure bakery displays are attractive and well-merchandised.
• Support promotional activities and tasting demonstrations when required.

Equipment & Operational Duties:

• Operate bakery equipment (ovens, mixers, slicers) safely.
• Report equipment faults immediately.
• Ensure correct storage of raw materials and finished goods.

Skills and Experience MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Grade 10 or Matric (preferred).
• 2–3 years retail bakery experience.
• Knowledge of supermarket bakery standards (advantageous).
• Understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations.
• Willingness to work early mornings, weekends, and public holidays.
