Job description

Construction & Development Assistant

Remote – South Africa | Full-time | JRE Property Group

About JRE Property Group

JRE Property Group is a third-generation UK family property business operating across three

pillars: a residential portfolio (South East London and Kent), a construction arm delivering

refurbishments, extensions and developments, and a property and asset management service.

We deliver projects both for our own portfolio and for private and public-sector clients, and we’re investing in our construction and development business to grow it professionally.

The role

We’re looking for an experienced, self-driven Construction & Development Manager to take

ownership of the planning, programming and delivery of our construction and development

projects — across both the family portfolio and client work. You’ll run projects day to day:

managing programmes, budgets, documentation, consultants and contractors, and keeping

every project on time, on budget and properly recorded, alongside coordinating the planning

applications that unlock our development pipeline.

This is a hands-on, execution-focused remote role working closely with our UK-based

Construction Director and Site Manager. You won’t be on site — our Site Manager is the eyes

and hands on the ground — so you’ll manage projects through strong systems, clear

communication and tight reporting. You’ll be a key part of the team that drives the growth engine of the business.

What you’ll do

  • Plan, programme and manage construction, refurbishment and development projects

from inception to completion

  • Manage project budgets, cost tracking, valuations and variations, protecting margin on

every job

  • Manage and coordinate contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and consultants
  • Monitor, progress and coordinate professionals on planning permission applications

(architects, planning consultants and others), keeping applications on schedule

  • Prepare and control project documents: programmes, quotes, tenders, contracts, RAMS,

drawings and certificates

  • Work closely with the Site Manager to monitor progress, quality and health & safety on

site

  • Manage client relationships and communications professionally throughout each project
  • Produce regular project reports, flagging risks, delays and cost issues early
  • Support portfolio development projects (refurbishments, conversions and planning-led

developments)

  • Help build and document repeatable project management processes so delivery

improves with every project

  • Support with systemisation of the department
  • Support with the implementation of AI tools

What we’re looking for

  • 2+ years’ experience managing construction, refurbishment or development projects
  • Strong understanding of programmes, budgets, costs, variations and contractor

management

  • Familiarity with UK construction processes and planning permission (preferred)
  • Experience using AI tools (preferred)
  • Strong organiser who can run multiple projects independently and reliably
  • Excellent written and spoken English; confident managing UK contractors, consultants

and clients

  • Quick to learn new software and systems (training provided)
  • Comfortable with project management, CRM and Google Workspace tools
  • Trustworthy and discreet with confidential project, client and financial information
  • Good quality, reliable home internet connection
  • A dedicated, quiet space to work from
  • Able to work UK business hours (see below)

Hours & working pattern

  • Full-time, Monday to Friday, working UK business hours
  • 7am – 5pm (one hour break)

What we offer

  • A key role in a 30+ year old family property group
  • Genuine ownership and responsibility from day one
  • Real progression as the construction and development business scales
  • Salary: £650
  • Contract type: independent contractor

Reporting & how to apply

Reports to: Construction Director (Michael Jones), working alongside the Site Manager and

Group Operations Manager.

Pay: R14 000,00 - R14 100,00 per month

Work Location: Remote
