About the Role
We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Finishing / Site Foreman to oversee on-site operations for a commercial building refurbishment and hospitality upgrade project under the JBCC contract framework. The successful candidate will drive daily site productivity, supervise direct trade labour and specialist subcontractors, enforce strict quality controls, and maintain site safety standards from strip-out to final handover.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate day-to-day site execution across multiple wet and finishing trades in a live facility environment.
Manage alteration and strip-out works, including the safe removal of existing flooring, wall coverings, and suspended ceilings, ensuring accurate record-keeping and rubble removal.
Oversee high-volume flooring installations, including self-levelling screed application, commercial broadloom carpeting, and ceramic/porcelain tiling.
Direct wet trade and plastering teams on Rhinolite skim finishes and surface preparations.
Manage suspended ceiling grid installations (Gyproc systems) and timber joinery works (skirtings and quadrants).
Coordinate and enforce manufacturer specifications for large-scale interior and exterior paint systems (Plascon specification standards) on plaster, drywall, timber, and metal surfaces.
Supervise nominated/selected plumbing and aluminium/glazing maintenance subcontractors, ensuring correct interface with building trades.
Maintain on-site health and safety compliance in accordance with the OHS Act and project safety specifications.
Track daily material deliveries, monitor site wastage, and assist the Site Agent / Quantity Surveyor with progress verification and marked-up site records.
Requirements & Experience
Minimum of 3–5 years of proven experience as a Finishing Foreman or General Building Foreman on commercial, hotel, or institutional refurbishment projects.
Strong hands-on supervisory experience across:
Flooring: Heavy commercial broadloom carpeting, self-levelling screeds, and porcelain tiling.
Ceilings & Partitions: Suspended plasterboard/screw-up grid systems and Rhinolite skimming.
Paintwork: High-volume commercial paint applications, primers, varnishes, and quality guarantees.
Carpentry & Finishes: Finish joinery, door maintenance, and skirtings.
Familiarity with JBCC site management protocols, site instruction records, and subcontractor attendance.
Working knowledge of Construction Regulations and OHS on-site compliance.
Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Valid driver's licence and willingness to be based on-site in the Golden Gate / Eastern Free State region.
