Job description
AAH Construction is seeking a qualified and experienced Construction Health and Safety Officer to manage and monitor occupational health and safety compliance across construction, refurbishment and building-maintenance projects.
Minimum Requirements
- Relevant qualification in Occupational Health and Safety, Construction Health and Safety or a related field
- Valid SACPCMP registration as a Construction Health and Safety Officer (CHSO)
- SAMTRAC, SHEMTRAC or equivalent safety qualification
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Construction Regulations
- Relevant construction-site health and safety experience
- Valid driver’s licence
- Computer literacy
- Ability to prepare safety files, risk assessments and incident reports
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement and maintain site health and safety plans and files
- Conduct risk assessments, safety inspections and toolbox talks
- Monitor compliance with health and safety legislation and site procedures
- Investigate incidents, accidents and near misses
- Maintain safety records, registers and reports
- Ensure employees and subcontractors comply with PPE and safety requirements
- Identify hazards and recommend corrective actions
- Liaise with project managers, supervisors, clients and subcontractors
- Support health and safety audits and inspections
