Introduction
BCB Solutions, a leading company specialising in Routine Road Maintenance (RRM) and Road Construction, invites suitably qualified and experienced Construction Health and Safety Officer (CHSO) to submit their applications for inclusion in our database for current and future high value infrastructure projects across South Africa.
Successful candidates will be considered for appointment should BCB Solutions successfully acquire any relevant works.
Duties & Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Implement and Maintaining the Health and Safety Management Systems on all sites
- Audit health and safety files and do site inspections
- Facilitate client audits
- Ensure that all accidents and incidents are properly recorded, reported and investigated and corrective and preventative measures are implemented
- Developing/Approving of Safety Files
- Induction of sub-contractors
- Ensuring general OHS compliance as per OHS Act
- Facilitating emergency preparedness and evacuation drills
- Adapt OHS-related documents to be client-specific
- Enforce risk identification, evaluation and development of safe work procedures
- Conduct or arrange a risk and hazard assessment and implement the necessary corrective actions to mitigate hazards and risks
- Ensure all site-related trainings and toolbox talks are conducted
- Monthly site and committee meetings attendance
- Extensive travelling to different site will be required
Desired Experience & Qualification
Applicants must possess the following:
- Construction Health and Safety Officer with SACPCMP registration in accordance with section 17 of the OHS Act
- At least 3 years’ experience
- Degree/Diploma/Certificates in Health and Safety Field
- SAMTRAC will be an added advantage
- Experience in SANRAL Projects (Road Construction and/or RRM)
- Valid South African driver's licence.
- Excellent writing skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Efficiency and Accuracy.
- Pro-active and ability to work independently.
- Loyalty.
