Project Manager

A Turnkey (Design and Build) Contractor is seeking an experienced and results-driven Project Manager to lead the professional team in the delivery of large-scale social infrastructure projects (student and social housing, clinics and hospitals, schools and universities). The candidate will be responsible for the successful planning, coordination, and delivery of projects through all stages (1 - 6), from concept through to completion. This role is ideal for a professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a proven track record of managing large and complex construction projects.

The successful candidate will work closely with development team, contractor and client teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage projects from concept, feasibility, design, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover and close out.
• Develop and maintain project programmes and delivery schedules.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary professional teams, including architects, engineers (civil, structural, mechanical, fire, electrical and electronic) quantity surveyors, and other specialist consultants.
• Act as the Principal Consultant and Principal Agent
• Monitor contractor performance to ensure adherence to programme, quality, safety, and compliance requirements.
• Monitoring and measurement of professional team performance.
• Chair and attend design, technical, progress, and site meetings.
• Manage project risks, issues, and scope changes to ensure alignment with development objectives.
• Track construction progress and proactively address programme, cost, and delivery challenges.
• Support commercial and finance teams with contract administration, cost management, and variation control.
• Prepare accurate project reports for developers, clients, and funders.
• Ensure compliance with statutory approvals, contractual obligations, and internal governance requirements.
• Conduct regular site inspections and travel frequently to sites, primarily within Gauteng, Limpopo and the North West.

Requirements

• At least 10 years’ experience in Project Management and Construction Project Management.
• Proven experience in delivering large-scale housing (walk-up, multi-storey), mixed-use, precincts, or large commercial developments.
• Understanding of public and private sector project delivery regimes
• Strong understanding of project lifecycles and procurement strategies.
• Demonstratable experience of working with both NEC and JBCC contracts. (FIDIC and GCC advantageous).
• Experience managing multiple consultants, contractors, and stakeholders simultaneously.
• Strong IT/AI/Tech skills and willingness to lead to lead on adoption of new technology-based solutions.
• Excellent planning, coordination, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of project outcomes.
• Willingness and ability to travel.

Qualifications

• Honors Degree (BSc) in Built Environment – Architecture, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Building Science
• Construction Management (Pr. CM), Construction Project Management (Pr.CPM), or Project Management Professional (PMP)

Pay: Up to R1 500 000,00 per year
