Job description

Content Creator

Core objective. Shoot, edit and optimise native short form video and photography that drives awareness, engagement and sales for Curve Gear across TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube Shorts.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Content production and editing

  • Shoot and capture. Record vertical and horizontal video, clean audio and photography on mobile and studio gear, on location at farms, sites, workshops and stores.
  • Rapid editing. Cut raw footage fast in CapCut, DaVinci Resolve or Adobe Premiere Pro with dynamic captions, sound design and pacing built for each platform.
  • Format repurposing. Turn single long form assets into multiple high performing short clips. One interview should yield five posts.
  • Brand voice. Write hooks, captions, on screen text and calls to action that sound like Curve Gear, not like an advert.

Paid media and UGC creative

  • Ad creative. Build creative made to run on Meta and TikTok, not repurposed organic posts.
  • Hook testing. Deliver multiple hook variations of every concept so the media buyer can test openings against each other.
  • Scaling winners. When an ad performs, cut new angles off it rather than starting from zero.
  • UGC production. Script, cast, direct and edit UGC style content. A real person talking to a phone camera about a real experience.
  • UGC craft. Hook in the first two seconds. One message, not a feature list. Specific over general. Phone quality on purpose, because over polished UGC stops working.

Strategy and trend agility

  • Trend tracking. Monitor audio, formats, comment culture and algorithm shifts daily, and pitch content while the trend is still alive.
  • Content pipeline. Source and book real customers and crews. Keep a rolling pipeline of at least six confirmed shoots.
  • Cross platform fit. Match content style to the audience on each platform. Facebook carries our core customer, TikTok carries the growth.

Analytics and optimisation

  • Performance tracking. Review views, hold rate, watch time, saves and shares weekly across organic and paid.
  • Iterative learning. Use what the data says to sharpen the next round of hooks, formats and posting experiments.
  • Reporting. Report monthly on what worked, what died and what you are repeating.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Technical skills

  • Video and photo software. Proficiency in mobile and desktop editors. CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Lightroom or Canva.
  • Production fundamentals. Solid grasp of lighting, framing and clean mobile sound recording.
  • Platform native literacy. Deep personal or professional familiarity with how TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube actually work.
  • Copywriting. Hooks, captions and short scripts in plain English.

Soft skills

  • Adaptability. Comfortable in a fast environment where priorities shift daily around what is trending.
  • Storytelling. Turns brand messaging into human, entertaining content.
  • People skills. Puts a stranger at ease on camera in two minutes.
  • Resilience. Works early, works in the field, and keeps going when a post flops.

Other requirements

  • Valid code B driver's licence, willingness to travel across South Africa and stay overnight where a shoot requires it
  • Availability for early morning and occasional weekend shoots
  • South African citizenship or a valid work permit

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Portfolio. A live portfolio or active social channel showing content you produced and the engagement it earned.
  • Background. One to three years in digital marketing, video production or organic social media management. A relevant diploma or degree is an advantage, not a requirement.
  • Paid exposure. Experience producing paid social or UGC ads, and reading creative performance data in Meta Ads Manager.
  • Sector. Retail, apparel, agriculture, construction or industrial experience.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Office based editing combined with regular field work on farms, construction sites, workshops and retail floors
  • Travel is required, including overnight stays. Travel and accommodation costs are covered by the company
  • Shoots may begin before sunrise. Hours are managed flexibly against a standard full time week

HOW TO APPLY

  • A curriculum vitae of no more than two pages
  • A link to a portfolio, showreel or social media account showing your own work
